General guidelines
==================

Attempting to circumvent Pluck makes complete loss of Internet
access more likely.  If you would like to uninstall Pluck, use the
standard method of uninstallation.

Standard uninstallation procedure
---------------------------------

The standard way to uninstall Pluck is to open Firefox or Chrome,
click the Pluck button, then Settings, and then click the
"Uninstall" button.  If for some reason this does not work, you may
try the following command-line based method of uninstallation.

1. Open a terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T in Ubuntu).

2. In the terminal type the following

        pluck set "delay 0"
        sleep $(pluck export | perl -lne "print if s/^Delay // && s/seconds//")
        sudo pluck uninstall

Repair procedure
----------------

If something goes wrong with the Pluck installation, Pluck may
be repairable.  To attempt a repair:

1. Open a terminal window (Ctrl+Alt+T in Ubuntu).

2. In the terminal type the following

        pluck repair

Known Issues
============

1. On Windows and Mac OS X the system and nhb features may be
   partially or wholly incompatible with

   - Cold Turkey
   - Covenant Eyes
   - Net Nanny
   - Qustodio
   - BullGuard Antivirus
   - jumpstart wifi hacker
   - possibly other filters

   When using these features along with any of these products, the
   Internet may become inaccessible (try restarting all browsers).  If
   problems persist, either stop using the nhb feature or uninstall
   Pluck or one of the conflicting filters.

reinstalling the most recent version of Pluck available at
http://www.pluckeye.net/ , and then run through the uninstallation
procedure again.
